Williams Lake Power Plant 2020

Project Number: #FR0001387

This project assisted local First Nations companies to deliver fibre to Atlantic Power in Williams Lake where it was used to generate electricity. The project utilized two mobile grinders and returned to harvest cut blocks that had remaining waste and logging debris piles. The piles were loaded into the grinder by a loader which ground the debris and loaded it into a chip truck which delivered the product to Atlantic Power in Williams Lake to be burned to generate power. Grinding of residual forest debris from logging operations generally located in the Chilcotin area utilized the waste fibre that would otherwise be burnt. The avoidance of pile burning resulted in fewer greenhouse gas emissions and contributed to the achievement of B.C.'s and Canada's climate change targets.
