Strouse Lake Knockdown and Grinding

Project Number: #RB0001452

This project's aim was to utilize the residual waste fibre resulting from a stand rehabilitation project funded by Forests for Tomorrow (FFT). There were three phases that dovetailed: FFT funded the initial clearing of the damaged forest, FESBC funded the utilization of the resulting residual fibre that would otherwise have traditionally been burnt, and finally FFT funded the reforestation of the site for future generations. The utilized fibre was delivered to Pinnacle or Atlantic Power in Williams Lake to make green energy. The avoidance of pile burning resulted in fewer greenhouse gas emissions and contributed to the achievement of B.C.'s and Canada's climate change targets.
