On June 3, 2026, the Forest Enhancement Society of BC (FESBC) welcomed an announcement from the Government of Canada that includes $37 million in funding to support the recovery and utilization of low-value and residual forest wood fibre across British Columbia.
For more than a decade, we have invested in projects that deliver economic, environmental, and social benefits for communities throughout the province. This funding will help turn fibre that may otherwise be burned into valuable products such as pulp, paper, pellets, bioenergy, and other innovative products.
The work will be carried out by proponents such as First Nations, local governments, contractors, foresters, community forests, and others throughout B.C., creating jobs, supporting rural and Indigenous communities, and helping maximize the value of every tree harvested or salvaged.
This investment aligns with our Society’s commitment to helping create healthier, more resilient forests for generations.
