The project reduced wildfire risk by removing surplus vegetation immediately adjacent to the Woss Community. The Woss community is in one of the highest risk areas on Vancouver Island and, as a result, the treatments were prioritized to protect the small community. The project was also designed to create local employment
opportunities for a community hard hit by local strikes and a depressed forestry economy.
