Through this project, Skookumchuck Pulp Mill will be able to recover uneconomic fibre from the Rocky Mountain trench area, resulting in the reduction of carbon emissions by utilizing the residual waste fibre left over from harvesting to produce green energy instead. The ground wood waste will be used at Skookumchuck Pulp Mill's cogeneration plant to make green electricity, resulting in an overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by avoiding pile burning of the residual waste.
