British Columbia: The Silviculture Innovation Program (SIP) and the Forest Enhancement Society of BC (FESBC) have a new partnership focused on funding projects that develop new practices and information to help benefit future practitioners of forestry in B.C. Together, they are hiring a Knowledge Exchange Specialist who will help connect forestry specific knowledge to forest management practice by leading activities and the co-creation of products for various jointly funded projects.
“In this role, the Knowledge Exchange Specialist will conduct field work with grantees at their funded project sites. From this work, they will work on technical documents to support the outputs of information which will help address knowledge gaps related to the economics and implementation of innovative or adaptive forestry practices, managing for multiple values, and supporting ecosystem health,” said Dr. Kira Hoffman, Extension Lead, Silviculture Innovation Program. “This is an opportunity to translate knowledge into digestible formats for different users/platforms and to extend information in accessible ways to practitioners.”
Through this partnership, SIP and FESBC are committing shared resources to evaluate project outcomes and communicate key learnings, ensuring that the benefits of the work of the Specialist are broadly understood and usable by all practitioners. SIP and FESBC are inviting people to consider applying for the role.
“The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in forestry in B.C. and will be a strong communicator with the ability to distill complex information for different audiences,” shared FESBC Operations Manager, Tyler Field. “If you have a passion for connecting knowledge to practice and highlighting practice to enhance knowledge, this could be a great opportunity.”
